Illuminant Surgical’s clinical research team presented multiple projects at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) 2023 Annual Meeting.

In an oral presentation, the team presented its findings on 3D-navigated procedures vs 2D-fluoroscopy guided procedures. Illuminant's researchers found that while 3D navigation has a nearly 6.5% greater surgical success rate than 2D fluoroscopy, there still exists room to improve 3D navigation tools – particularly with respect to their lengthy setup processes and radiation exposure.

In a poster session, Illuminant's researchers and clinical collaborators presented their work on analyzing the required spinal surgery case volumes to justify the cost of current commercial 3D navigation systems. Our findings showed that current systems are too expensive, disincentivizing nearly 61% of all in-patient hospitals from acquiring such systems, despite their benefits.

These projects reinforce our dedication to building best-in class methods of navigating the human body that can scale beyond the largest hospitals.
